Posted On Wednesday May 20, 2020

Online resources are now available for residents interested in participating in an online public open house regarding the review of the Comprehensive Zoning By-law.

Get Involved!

Please review the following materials, then fill out the online survey by clicking here. The survey closes on May 31. On June 12, a summary of the survey responses will be made available.

The City of Cornwall Planning Division initiated a review of the City’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 751-1969 in January 2020. This process will result in a new Zoning By-law that applies to the entire City. You are invited to participate in an online Public Open House to learn more about the process, how zoning affects your property, and how to provide input. High level land use and zoning matters which have been considered in a Draft Discussion Paper will be presented through a series of online materials, and we will be seeking feedback from the community through an online survey.

A Zoning By-law is a legal document that implements the policies of the City’s Official Plan (Approved 2018). The Zoning By-law translates the land use planning objectives and policies of the Official Plan into detailed standards for how a property may be developed, including:

  • the types of uses, buildings, and structures that are permitted on a property;
  • lot sizes, lot coverage, and building heights;
  • setbacks from streets, lot lines, and waterbodies; and
  • parking and landscaping requirements.

Updates will be shared on
