Cornwall Fire Services receives funding from HFSC
The Cornwall Fire Services recently received $500 funding from Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition Canada (HFSC) and the Co-operators. The amount has been used to purchase two banners as well as material that was used to increase awareness about the life-saving benefits of home fire sprinklers.
“Every community needs to know the facts about home fire sprinklers, including the City of Cornwall,” said Deputy Fire Chief Leighton Woods. “We are honored to have been selected for this generous stipend.”
According to the HFSC — a charitable organization that offers educational material home fire sprinkler systems — a home without sprinklers can become deadly in as little as two minutes during a fire. These same fires put residents and firefighters at risk due to toxic smoke, heat and flames.
“Using the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition’s educational materials, we will raise awareness of how quickly a home fire can become deadly and the life-saving impact of installing home fire sprinklers. We will now proudly display the banners at the entrance to the Fire Station.”
