The Centennial Choir is presenting Canada - Something to Sing About! on Friday, May 12th at Aultsville Theatre beginning at 7:30 pm under the direction of Lisa Zeran and Felicity Swenson, accompanist. Tickets for adults are $15 and for children $7 and are available from choir members, the Lottery Kiosk at the Cornwall Square, Home Hardware and St. John's Presbyterian Church on Second Street.
The all Canadian composer performance will feature Cape Breton songs, folk songs dating back to the Upper and Lower Canada rebellions, French Canadian favourites and many other beloved Canadian folk songs.
The Centennial Choir is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The choir was formed in 1967 (Canada's Centennial Year) by Brian McCartney from a nucleus of members who sang in the Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School choral group and the Edgar Shaw Hansen Singers. The choir has a long history of excellence and has performed in many local venues as well as in England, Wales, and the United States. The choir performs music that ranges from sacred to secular, modern to classical and popular to jazz.
