Child Care Wage Enhancement Funding
The province announced on January 20, 2015 that there would be a new wage enhancement program to start in 2015 for staff in licensed child care settings. The wage enhancement will support an increase of $1 per hour in 2015, plus up to 17.5 percent benefits. In addition, the Home Child Care Enhancement Grant (HCCEG) will support an increase of up to $10 per day in 2015 for licensed home child care providers.
An additional wage increase was announced on January 19, 2016. Consistent with the government's commitment, effective January 1, 2016 the wage enhancement will support an increase of up to $2 per hour, plus 17.5 percent benefits. In addition, the Home Child Care Enhancement Grant (HCCEG) will support an increase of up to $20 per day in 2016 for home child care providers.
In 2017, the provincial wage enhancement investment will continue to support a wage increase of up to $2 per hour plus 17.5 percent benefits for eligible centre based staff. The HCCEG will support an increase of up to $20 per day in 2017 for home child care providers.
Applications must be completed and submitted to the attention of the City's Child Care Division no later than April 3, 2017. Applications received after April 3, 2017 will not be allocated wage enhancement funding in 2017. Operators who miss the application deadline may apply for wage enhancement funding in 2018.
