Outdoor Pools
 

The City of Cornwall Department of Planning, Parks and Recreation operates 6 large outdoor pools during the months of July and August.

In addition, the City operates 2 splashpads in Lamoureux Park and St. Theresa Park. For more information on the splashpads, please click here.
 
Programs Offered
 
Red Cross Swim Preschool (for children 3 to 6 years of age and who are ready to leave the parent)
This eight level program allows swimmers to enter various levels based on age and ability.  Kids will enjoy the animal themes and mascots, which have been added to enhance learning and fun.  Five levels are offered outdoors: Sea Otter, Salamander, Sunfish, Crocodile and Whale.
 
Red Cross Swim Kids (for children 5 years of age or older)
This 10 level program fits with today's swimmers: Swimming and Water Safety skills are taught in the water so kids are active and wet - promotes success and encourages lifelong fitness.

Bronze Star: Get a head start by taking Bronze Star. An excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. Participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills individually and in partners. Candidates learn CPR and develop the lifesaving skills needed to be their own lifeguard. Includes a timed 400 m swim.

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid  (prerequisite 13 years of age or Bronze Star - proof of age and qualifications required).
This is a pre-requisite for all advanced Lifesaving education. This course teaches responses to complex water rescue situations. It develops physical fitness, decision-making and judgement skills.
 
Bronze Cross  (prerequisite Bronze Medallion & Emergency first aid - proof of qualifications required).
Bronze Cross challenges Life Savers with more advanced training and introduces safe supervision in aquatic facilities, the principles of teamwork, procedures and use of special equipment.
 
Session Dates
 
There are FOUR sessions of swimming lessons offered in the summer.  Each session is approximately TWO weeks in length. Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

Mail in (or) Register in person at the Cornwall Aquatic Centre (100 Water St. E.) commencing Tuesday May 21, 2013.  Office Hours are Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Evening Swims
 
All 6 pools will be open from July 2 to July 26 (weather permitting), from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  for public swimming

Weekend Swims
 
Saturday and Sunday commencing June 22 to August 18 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Public Swim (Pay Swim)
