Learn to Kayak

The Flatwater A Kayak program is an ORCKA (Ontario Recreational Canoe Kayak Association) approved Flatwater A Kayaking Program.  Participants will be wearing a helmet and a life jacket at all times when near, on or in the water.  Youth and Adult classes to choose from.  Please register early as limited space is available.  During the classes that follow the participants will complete an ORCKA flatwater A kayaking course and will have the necessary knowledge and skills to paddle safely and enjoy the water sport in the future.  Registration can be done in person at the Benson Centre and the Cornwall Aquatic Centre.

Program Details: 

Dates: Thursday July 6 - Thursday July 27th 

Time:  Youth 9:30 - 11 a.m.
            Adult 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Fee:  Classes $85 plus tax (No tax for youth program)

All classes will be held at the Boat Launch at Lamoureux Park

What do you need?

-Comfortable clothes that can get wet.

-Water shoes/socks are recommended

-Towel

-Drinking water


What to expect during the first class:

-Meet the instructor and students

-Introduction to the equipment and how we use it and care for it

-Introduction to the environment in which we will be working and having fun

-Getting in and out of a kayak while on land

-Getting out of the kayak in the water
