2012 March Break Activities

The City of Cornwall is offering a wide range of activities during the March Break to keep you and your family busy! Lace up your skates and take to the ice at the new Benson Centre, or take the plunge at the Cornwall Aquatic Centre! If skating and swimming isn't your thing, then why not sign your children up for one of our March Break programs at the Benson Centre? Read on to find all of the information you need!

Public Skating

There will be free public skating (compliments of Tim Hortons) at the Benson Centre Pad # 2 from Monday, March 12 to Friday, March 16, from 1 pm to 2:20 pm.

Public Swimming

There will be a series of Family, Preschool and Leisure Swims at the Aquatic Centre over the March Break, including several free Leisure Swims compliments of the Kinette Club of Cornwall.

Walking & Jogging

Head indoors and enjoy a walk or a run in the Ed Lumley Arena concourse at the Cornwall Civic Complex. The arena is open to walkers and joggers from 7 am to 9 pm daily (with the exception of Cornwall Colts hockey game nights). Walking and jogging at the Benson Centre during the March Break will be disrupted due to March Break Programming.  Walkers/joggers are encouraged to use the Cornwall Civic Complex walking concourse as a alternate location.

March Break Programs

The City will be offering a number of special March Break programs at the Benson Centre. There are limited spaces available, so register today!

Registration for all March Break activities will be taken in person at the Benson Centre or the Cornwall Aquatic Centre. For additional information on these programs, please call the Benson Centre at 613-938-9898.

March Break Arts Workshops
Ages 5 - 12

Each weekday morning, the Department of Planning, Parks & Recreation will be offering a variety of specialty art workshops for children ages 5 to 12.  Workshop themes include Create Your Own Super Hero, Little Chefs - Hawaii Five-Yum! St. Patty's Day Party, Easter EGGcitement Crafts and Egg Hunt and a Dance Party featuring Zumba.  Sign up for one or all of the arts workshops.  Register early as space is limited.

Time:    10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon

March Break Sports Workshops
Ages 5 - 12

Each weekday afternoon the Department of Planning, Parks & Recreation will be offering a variety of sport workshops for children ages 5 - 12.   Each weekday participants will work on skills and play games in two different sports.  Children must pre-register for each program and can sign up for one or all of the sports workshops.  Register early as space is limited.

March Break Drop In Badminton for Teens
Ages 12 - 18
Wednesday March 14th from 12:00 noon - 1:30 p.m.
Benson Centre Badminton Courts

Experienced badminton players are encouraged to come out and play at the Benson Centre Courts.  Cost is $3.00 per person and players required to bring their own racquet and indoor tennis shoes.  Please check in and pay at the Benson Centre front desk.  

March Break 2012 3 on 3 Pick-up Hockey
Tuesday March 13th & Thursday March 15th

Novice      10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.
Atom         11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.
Peewee    12:00 p.m. - 12:50 p.m.
Bantam    1:00 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.

The City of Cornwall is offering 3 on 3 pick-up hockey during the March Break.  Games are scheduled on Tuesday March 13^th and Thursday March 15^th in Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam Divisions.  Players must pre-register to play and spaces are limited to 18 skaters and 2 goalies.   Players are asked to bring full equipment, one white and one dark coloured jersey.  Participants will play in division they are currently playing.

March Break Princess Tea Party  (Sorry, Program is full!)
Ages 3 - 8 

Here Ye!  Here Ye!  Calling all princesses, come and join Princess Beauty at the Benson Centre on Friday March 16^th from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a Royal Princess Party.  Princesses in attendance will join Beauty for storytelling, sing-along songs, sparkly make-up, crown making craft, tea party and dance lessons.  Please feel free to wear your own princess gown and shoes.   Register early as space is limited.

              1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

March Break Recre-Action Camp  (Sorry, Program is full!)
Ages 5 - 12 

The City of Cornwall will once again be offering a Day Camp this year as part of our March Break Madness fun.  The Recre-Action Camp will offer a wide range of dynamic activities to keep children ages 5 to 12 years active during the March Break.  Campers can look forward to a full day of activity filled with sports, active games, arts & crafts, outdoor play, camp outings and much, much more.  Register for the full week of camp over the March Break, but please act fast as space is limited.  Our March Break Madness Camps emphasize individual participation, co-operation and fun!

Dates: Monday March 12th - Friday March 16th, 2012
Camp Hours:   8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Cost:  $130.00/week
