Apples & Art Studio Tour

Local art enthusiasts will have a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the Cornwall area’s best-known artists this weekend during the 21st annual Apples & Art Studio Tour.

The tour, organized by the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery, will feature 22 different artists in 10 sites throughout Cornwall and S,D & G. The event runs on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th from 10 am to 5 pm, and entry is free to all sites.

The goal of the tour is to give residents an opportunity to enjoy art in the spaces where it is actually created.

“You can see where it all happens,” said Vince Pilon, Assistant Director at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery. “The art gallery is the final product, but on the tour you have a chance to look at the spaces where people get creative and you get to learn about the process and interact with the artists.”

One of the new stops on this tour this year is OBO Studios, a new space that recently opened in the former Standard-Freeholder building on Pitt Street. Mr. Pilon said this will be the first chance for art lovers to get a glimpse of this exciting new artists’ studio, which is co-owned by artists Tracy-Lynn Chisholm and Emily MacLeod. The site will feature the work of six artists during the Apples & Art Studio Tour.

Mr. Pilon said the tour will also feature a number of returning artists, such as Cornwall’s Peter Leclair and Gerry Swift, based in Apple Hill.
