Free Swims, Skates and Transit Rides Being Provided By City Of Cornwall As Part Of Winterfest

The City of Cornwall is joining in the celebration of family this Family Day weekend by offering free swims, skates and Cornwall Transit rides in conjunction with the Storm Realty Cornwall Winterfest Carnaval.

The annual winter carnival runs Saturday through Monday, with a wide variety of free activities taking place in Cornwall’s Lamoureux Park and the neighbouring Cornwall Civic Complex and Aquatic Centre.

To help residents join in the fun, Cornwall Transit is offering a free shuttle service on Sunday and Monday.  The shuttle will start at 11:40 am each day, and it will travel to several different areas of the City, stopping to pick up passengers at Cornwall Transit bus stops along the way.

At the Civic Complex and Aquatic Centre, there are a number of free complimentary swims and skates taking place as part of Winterfest.

Three will be three free Polar Bear swims on Monday from 12 pm - 12:50 pm, 1 pm - 1:50 pm and 2 pm – 2:50 pm. Residents are advised that there is a maximum occupancy of 285 swimmers per swim, and participants will be accepted on a first-come basis.

At the neighbouring Civic Complex, there will be a number of free public skates in addition to the numerous other activities taking place within the facility and in Lamoureux Park.

On Sunday, there will be a free Senior Skate from 12 pm - 12:50 pm followed by a pair of Public Skates from 1 pm - 1:50 pm and 2 pm - 2:50 pm. On Monday, the free Public Skates will take place at 1 pm – 1:50 pm and 2 pm – 2:50 pm. Residents are advised that there is a maximum of 170 people per skate.

The Civic Complex will also be the venue for a variety of Winterfest family activities on both Sunday and Monday from 11 am – 5:30 pm. These activities will be taking place in Salons A, B and C.

The Cornwall Public Library will also be open on Family Day, from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
