Bishop Cup

The rivalry between St. Joseph’s and Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary Schools will be renewed on Tuesday, March 27th as the two high schools face off in the 6th Annual Bishop Cup.

A large crowd of supporters from both schools are expected to be on hand for the game, which gets underway at 6:30 pm at the Cornwall Civic Complex. It will mark the second year that the annual match has been played at the Civic Complex.

Admission to the game is $2, with the funds going to Roger’s House at CHEO in memory of Jovie Denise Butcher, who passed away early in February, the daughter of Renee – a Holy Trinity teacher – and Ian.

In addition to supporting a good cause, fans can also expect to see a spirited contest between the rival Panthers and Falcons. The Holy Trinity Falcons will be looking to win its third straight victory at the Bishop Cup following a 53-save performance by goaltender Alex Boileau in last year’s contest.

The brainchild of local sports fan Thom Racine, the Bishop Cup has already grown to become one of the largest events on the local sports calendar.

Pictured holding the Bishop Cup is Holy Trinity captain Ryan Dewar, left, and St. Joseph’s captain Matt Seguin.

Please note that due to the Bishop Cup game, the Civic Complex arena concourse will be closed to walkers and runners on Tuesday, March 27th from 5 pm on.
