BizFest

The Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce today announced highlights of the 2012 BizFest. The organizing committee is confident that you will not only learn, but be enlightened by the line up of presentations. BizFest begins October 16th and continues until October 18th.

BizFest 2012 kicks off with special keynote speaker, Dianne Buckner. Well known for her CBC presence, her remarks will centre on Seven Powerful Trends: How They’re Affecting Business in 2012. She uses video excerpts from Dragons’ Den, and draws on her extensive experience in covering business for CBC News, showing how companies are exploiting trends to gain new revenue. She also uses examples of those who are rising to the challenge of adapting to new ways of doing business, to avoid being left by the wayside.

This year’s theme is Become Comfortable With the Uncomfortable and Wednesday begins with the popular Breakfast Connections and guest Speaker Denis Carr Jr. who will underline customer success by connecting with them on an emotional level. From there, delegates have the choice of a wide range of thought provoking workshops.

The power of social media, 10 tips to managing your money, and your legal rights as an employer are just three of the seminars that business professionals will find essential to their success in the workplace.

The October 17th luncheon features local celebrity Tyler Murree. You’ll laugh along with Tyler as he provides a humorous account of how he made it in the entertainment industry and you will be sure to de delighted by his humor and creative touch.

Following lunch will besession two of the workshop series. Delegates will learn about the essentials of adapting in a world of iPhones, iPads and social media, succession planning — what happens when you are no longer around, and yes, you can make on-line payments work for you. There will also be a session about the challenges of tomorrow’s workforce.

A not-to-be-missed gathering will be the BizFest wrap-up at Schnitzels for PubNite on October 18th. Emerging as one of the Chamber’s most popular networking events, PubNites bring together a cross section of Cornwall’s professional community.
