The Glen Stor Dun Lodge has been accredited by an independent organization for meeting national standards of excellence in quality care and service.

Surveyors from Accreditation Canada visited the Glen Stor Dun Lodge  late last year to conduct a review of the 132-bed facility.

As a result of the review, the Lodge has been ‘Accredited with Commendation,’ meaning the facility has surpassed the fundamental requirements of the accreditation program.

“This achievement demonstrates your organization’s determination and commitment to ongoing quality improvement,” reads a recent letter from Accreditation Canada announcing the award. “We applaud your leadership, staff, and accreditation team members for their efforts and dedication to the provision of safe, quality health service.”

“On behalf of the Board of Management of the Glen Stor Dun Lodge, I commend our excellent staff and management for upholding a high standard of quality care for our residents,” said Councillor Denis Thibault, Chair of the Management Board at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge.

The Lodge will look to maintain and build on its new accreditation status through ongoing evaluations and periodic reporting with Accreditation Canada.

“We are continually evaluating our practices and procedures with a goal of improving our overall operation,” said Norm Quenneville, Glen Stor Dun Lodge Administrator. “This latest accreditation award is a great achievement for the Lodge, and our staff deserve full credit for upholding a high standard of quality care.”

About the Glen Stor Dun Lodge
Glen Stor Dun Lodge is an accredited 132-bed, non-profit facility offering long term care and outreach services to the citizens of our community. A Committee of Management consisting of representatives from the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of S, D & G oversee the Home.

The roots of the Glen Stor Dun Lodge date back to 1912 when construction began on the House of Refuge and Industry to serve Cornwall and S, D & G. In 1932, the facility was renamed Glen Stor Dun Lodge, Home for the Aged. In 1952, the Lodge moved from its original location to a new site along the St. Lawrence River. The second facility was eventually replaced by the present Lodge in April 1994.
