SD&G/Cornwall Culture Plan Consultation Process Results

February 18, 2011

The Eastern Ontario Training Board, SD&G Community Futures, the City of Cornwall and the townships of North and South Dundas, North and South Glengarry and North and South Stormont are currently preparing a Municipal Culture Plan for Cornwall and the municipalities within the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.  Further information regarding this project can be found at http://www.eotb-cfeo.on.ca/culture.  As part of this process, in-depth consultations with stakeholders and the public at large were held in November 2010.  In addition, an online survey was completed which garnered a good response from the community.

The following reports are now available on the Web Site:

  1. Report of the Public Consultations and Stakeholder Interviews – this report provides a presentation of the consultation structure and “what we heard” at each of the 9 meetings, provided in English for the English sessions and in French for the French sessions; and
  2. Detailed Report of the Survey conducted online which addressed a range of questions, experiences and hopes for the development of cultural resources in the broader community.

Both documents are part of our research process and will be used as input to the development of the Municipal Culture Plan for SD&G, which will be completed by the spring of 2011.

In addition, work is continuing in building a database of cultural assets, organizations, businesses and events which will provide a platform for the municipal cultural asset mapping exercise which will also be completed by the spring of this year.
