Second Annual WritersFest Taking Place At Cornwall Public Library

April 19, 2012

Cornwall Public Library

Are you an aspiring writer? If so, you will not want to miss this event.

The Cornwall Public Library is hosting the second annual WritersFest from April 26th to April 29th.

Nine different presentations are being offered in one exciting festival of writing. Local area authors and writers will lend their expertise during the four day event to anyone wanting to learn tips and tricks on a variety of writing disciplines.  How do you research material for a book?  How do you get published?  Where do I get my inspiration?  Who and where do I turn to get started? These are some of the questions that will be answered at WritersFest.

This event will appeal to everyone, from the novice to the amateur looking to get started or to take the next step in their career or hobby as a writer.

Some of the speakers at this year's festival include:

  • Carolyn Eva of Tri-County Literacy Council on clear writing
  • Chief Librarian Dawn Kiddell on library resources for writers and authors
  • Julia Lucio and Mai-Liis Renaud, co-owners of the Local Seeker, on the challenges of creating a community newspaper publication
  • Author Joan Levy Early on the book business
  • Author Maggie Wheeler on character, plot and setting
  • Author Betty Healey on writing as a practice for personal discovery
  • Denise Neilson on traditional publishing, E-books and the world of indy publishing

Added to the festival this year is a local Author’s Fair on Saturday, April 28th. The Author's Fair is being organized by the Friends of the Cornwall Public Library who are partnering with the Library to make this event possible. A half price sale on all of their used books in their shop continues until April 28th.

The whole event is free of charge but registration is required for individual sessions.  A grand prize of an electronic book reader will be awarded at the conclusion of the festival amongst those who attended any one session.

For more information please call the Library at 613-932-4796. A full lineup of events is available at the Library and on the Library’s website.
