Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off

Lamoureux Park will be the venue for four days of live music, activities, carnival rides and hot air balloon rides as Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off takes flight on Thursday.

Now in its 15th year, the hot air balloon festival has become the “can’t miss” event for the Cornwall area, with both residents and visitors alike looking forward to it with great anticipation.

"Every year, we strive to surpass the previous year", said Festival Chair Judi Auger. "The Festival Board has once again worked extremely hard to bring great entertainment to the Lift-Off stage, and plenty of activity to Lamoureux Park throughout the day. The addition of the Seniors Bingo, The Minute To Win It contest, and the creation of the Family Zone, will certainly add to the family atmosphere of the festival."

The entertainment schedule for the Lift-Off Stage will appeal to a wide range of music fans as both local performers and big-name acts grace the stage in Lamoureux Park. The list of performers includes:

  • Thursday, July 14th
    5:30 pm The Flipside
    6:45 pm The Lost Boyz
    8:00 pm Platinum Blonde
    9:30 pm April Wine
  • Friday July, 15th
    5:30 pm Tim's Myth
    6:45 pm Graham Greer
    8:00 pm Ash Koley
    9:30 pm Collective Soul
  • Saturday July, 16th
    5:30 pm Winston Marley
6:45 pm Melanie and the General Electryk
    8:00 pm Neverest

This year, Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off is once again selling bracelets as the official Lift-Off entry pass. The prices for 2011 are $30 for a full weekend pass or $15 per evening. Children 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult can attend free of charge. The 2011 Lift-Off weekend passes are now on sale at the Cornwall Square Customer Service Centre, Computer Sense, Scotiabank, Your Credit Union and Cornwall & Seaway Valley Tourism.

"The $30 full weekend admission charge, coupled with the high quality entertainment makes Lift-Off one of the best deals in the province," said Rob Seguin, Festival Entertainment Director. "At a cost of only $30 for the entire festival, festival goers and families will be able to enjoy world-class entertainment right here in Cornwall, at extremely affordable prices. It would be impossible to purchase tickets to see just one of these headliners for $30, let alone see all three perform."

Cornwall Lift-Off was founded in 1994 and has since hosted back-to-back Canadian National Hot Air Balloon Championships in 1996 and 1997. The success of the festival has grown considerably from its modest beginnings in 1994. The 2011 festival will welcome 25 hot air balloon teams, the Homenuik Carnival, fireworks, a new Family Zone, along with great musical entertainment.
