Pitt Street Artfest

The Cornwall Regional Art Gallery is gearing up to celebrate Culture Days with a weekend festival on Pitt Street. Come for a stroll and check out what Cornwall's artistic commmunity has to offer.

The first annual Pitt Street Artfest will take place on Saturday, October 1st, from 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday October 2nd, from 12 pm to 5 pm. The majority of activities will be on Pitt Street, between First and Second Streets.

"We're very excited with the response" says Sylvie Lizotte of the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery. "We have sculptors, photographers, painters, musicians, actors, dancers..."

Among the dozens of local artists, reality TV star and artist Jackie Gordon of The Bachelor will be at the event, showing her paintings and sitting for local portraitist Deborah Kerr.

The Gallery is sending a call to any individuals or groups who want to help create a community event of music, crafts, food, entertainment, heritage, and story-telling to celebrate our region's cultural richness. Over 25 artists are expected to participate.

The event, created for the second annual cross-Canadian Culture Days celebration, is all-ages and free to the public.

During the festival, Pitt Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between First and Second Streets.

About Culture Days
Culture Days is a collaborative pan-Canadian, volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

Culture Days is a grassroots movement that self-mobilizes to implement concurrent, annual, province-wide public participation events that take place throughout the country over the last weekend of September.

This year, Culture Days is taking place throughout the country on September 30, October 1 & 2.

Thousands of artists, individuals, organizations and communities are involved in organizing Culture Days.

Culture Days events feature free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate behind the scenes, to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their community.
