Cornwall Transit partnering with Rock the Vote on Saturday, June 16th

June 14, 2012

A free Cornwall Transit student bus pass will be given away this Saturday June 16th at Cornwall's Rock the Vote at the Church on Sydney in beautiful Downtown Cornwall.

The student bus pass will be given away just before 8 pm when Cornwall Youth Advisory Chair Rose MeGill will guest speak before a musical set by the band Administator at 8pm.

This all-ages, family-friendly community event runs from 1pm to 10pm and features 17 acoustic sets including Graham Greer and Sara Murphy.

Guest speakers include City Councillors and Executive Directors of some local charities. The event also features a community themed art show and an author's corner.

This event strives to promote a positive message about voting and volunteering to our City's youth.

The Church on Sydney is located at 130 Sydney Street and several different buses stop within a one minute walk of the venue.

Transit Committee Chair and Rock the Vote event organizer Jason Setnyk explains, “this event promotes voting and volunteering, especially amongst a younger demographic. Our taxes pay for services youth use including the bus, and I want to see more young people ride the bus. It's economical and environmentally friendly, and I think this is a great opportunity for positive outreach."
