Cornwall hosting Pro-Bass Canada fishing tournaments on August 4th and 5th

August 03, 2012

Dozens of fishermen will be taking to the St. Lawrence River and Lake St. Francis on August 4th and 5th to compete in a pair of Pro-Bass Canada Elite Series fishing tournaments.

The action gets underway on August 4th with the first tournament taking place on Lake St. Lawrence above the R.H. Saunders Generating Station. The tournament kicks off at 6:30 am from the boat launch at Guindon Park. That will be followed by a second tournament on August 5th on Lake St. Francis, based out of the boat launch behind the RCAFA Wing 424 building in Lamoureux Park.

Pro-Bass Canada President Liette Laroche said there will be a number of Quebec teams in the tournament in addition to fishermen from the Cornwall area.

Pro-Bass Canada is no stranger to the Cornwall area, having held two Classic tournaments here in past years.

“The community is very welcoming,” said Mrs. Laroche. “It feels like home.”

With two different tournaments taking place over two days, Mrs. Laroche said the Cornwall economy will benefit through hotel room stays, restaurant visits and other economic spin-offs.

Pro-Bass Canada will be back in Cornwall one more time this season. The two-day Classic tournament will be held on September 29th and 30th, and the second day of action will take place on Lake St. Francis.

The Cornwall tournaments are open to all interested fishermen, Mrs. Laroche said, and registration forms and additional information can be found on the Pro-Bass Canada website.
