Do you have a favourite thing? If so, then the Cornwall Community Museum wants to hear from you!

After a long hiatus, the Museum is bringing back ‘The Thing Contest’ to coincide with Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off in Lamoureux Park.

Residents are invited to bring their favourite thing or things to the Museum any time between Thursday, July 12th and Saturday, July 14th (between 10 am and 4 pm). The submissions will be put on show throughout the weekend, and some prizes will be handed out for the best things following judging on Sunday, July 15th.

The Museum is looking for submissions in five different categories – the Cornwall Thing, the Oldest Thing, the Oddest Thing, the Newest Thing and the Cutest Thing. Humans, animals and rocks are off limits, but just about anything else is welcome.

“It’s up to your imagination,” said Ian Bowering, Curator at the Museum.

The Museum held a similar contest in 1995, and they’re hoping for an even larger turnout this time around.

“It’s just meant to be for fun,” Mr. Bowering added.

The Museum will be open throughout Lift-Off weekend, from 10 am to 4 pm, and residents are encouraged to stop by and explore Cornwall’s history. Among other things, the Museum currently has a special exhibit on display for the War of 1812.

For more information on the Museum or ‘The Thing Contest,’ please call (613) 936-0280.
