The Cornwall Black Sox have repeated as Senior Little League provincial champions, beating Windsor West-Turtle Club in Wednesday's final 8-5.

For three players on the team – Aaron Seguin, Shawn Hickey and Nick Saucier – it's a second straight title. However, most of the team is new to the championship, which makes the repeat for a relatively small program all the more impressive.

The Black Sox once again took the lead early and were up 4-2 after four innings. Windsor West-Turtle Club closed the gap with a run in the fifth but Cornwall responded, eventually widening the lead to 8-3 heading into the seventh and final frame.

Windsor West-Turtle Club added two runs in the seventh but the Black Sox pitchers were able keep the title secured.

On Tuesday, the Black Sox beat hosts Oakville 8-4 in the semifinal while Windsor West-Turtle Club eased by Thunder Bay 12-2.

The Black Sox won the round-robin with a 4-1 record and were the class of the tournament scoring the most runs in their five games (53) while also giving up the fewest runs (33).

The Black Sox opened the provincial tournament with their only loss – falling 11-8 to East Nepean before reeling of six straight wins on their way to the title.

It's a hectic schedule from now on as the Black Sox players are scheduled to start play at the national tournament in St. John, N.B. on Saturday.

There they will face the representatives from the Atlantic region, Quebec, Prairies and British Columbia in round-robin play, with the top four squads advancing to the playoff round.

Last year, the Black Sox beat the odds to claim the national title before earning the right to don Team Canada colours at the Senior Little League World Series in Bangor, Maine.
