The Municipal Environmental Advisory Committee (MEAC) serves to advise City Council on environmental matters of concern or interest. The Committee also provides a forum for public input on various environmental matters in the community.

The priorities of the Committee include:

  • Liaise with City Council, related agencies and citizens of Cornwall on matters relating to the environment through the public input process.
  • Promote or support Council activity within the City which aims to improve the quality of the environment.
  • Assist in the identification of hazards to the environmental health and well-being of citizens of Cornwall.
  • Help improve the aesthetic quality of Cornwall.

The Committee is composed of 14 members and includes representation from the community at large, the City of Cornwall, industry, the city's Youth Advisory Committee, and numerous environmental organizations in the community.

MEAC meets on a monthly basis throughout the year.
