Waste Diversion Program Awareness And Participation Survey
In February 2012, Statistics Canada conducted a waste diversion study in Cornwall as part of a professional development program.
The main objective of the survey was to collect information from Cornwall residents on their awareness and participation in waste diversion programs. A total of 560 households completed the survey.
Among other things, the survey found that the City of Cornwall enjoys a high level of awareness and involvement among residents in its recycling program.
A total of 96.1 % of respondents said they were aware of the City's curbside recycling program. Of those, 87.1 % said they participated in the program in the past year, with most of them - 85.3 % - taking part every two weeks. The survey was conducted in February, prior to the switch to weekly recycling collection in April.
