Child Care Advisor (Temporary)

The City of Cornwall is a progressive community of 47,000 situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Eastern Ontario.  Cornwall boasts a modern economy led by forward thinkers and offers an extensive array of urban amenities making it an excellent place to build a career and raise a family.  

The Child Care Advisor will recruit, select, screen, monitor and supervise home child care providers as outline in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. You will ensure that home child care providers meet the requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. The Child Care Advisor will complete appropriate matches for the children and families with the child care providers. Complete income tests with families to determine eligibility for child care fee subsidies. Ensure a quality, safe, healthy and stimulating environment for children. Coordinate placement in a licensed child care centre of parental choice. Provide support and resources to providers and parents as required. Maintain all child, family and provider information in the child care database.

Candidates for the role are required to have graduated from a 2-year community college program in Early Childhood Education with demonstrated knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and be able to work within legislation, policies and regulations; have a minimum of 2 year's recent related experience working with children from birth to 6 years of age; Be a current registered member of the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standing; Must possess excellent computer experience with databases, spreadsheets and general office software (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes & Internet); Ability to work both independently and within a team oriented organization; Must possess recent Standard First Aid and CPR certification; Must have a record of up to date immunization as required under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014; Must possess excellent communication, inter-personal and time management skills; Must be able to perform all duties assigned; Must have knowledge of "How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years"; and possess a valid unrestricted driver's license and have access to a vehicle. Bilingualism in French and English will be considered an asset.
