Accounting Coordinator, Shared Services

The City is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Accounting Coordinator, Shared Services. Reporting to the Finance Supervisor for Shared Services and working in collaboration with the Social and Housing Services’ team, you will be responsible to provide expert advice and decision support in the planning, budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and reporting of financial information for the delivery of social programs and services.

The successful candidate will interpret legislation, conduct analytical research to support short and long term budget management and planning; develop and maintain complex spreadsheets; prepare financial reporting and statements; ensure financial reporting is consistent with applicable Ministry legislation, and develop and maintain budget and expenditure forecasting tools.  In this position, you will implement accounting operations, financial controls, operations auditing, and quality assurance principles.  You must have the ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.

As an ideal candidate, you will have a University degree or College diploma in Business, Commerce, Accounting or Finance accompanied by a minimum four (4) years of experience with two (2) years in a supervisory or team lead role. Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards who gained this experience in a government environment.  CPA designation and bilingualism (English and French) will be considered as assets.

The incumbent must have strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel (advanced), Word, and PowerPoint.  As part of the interview process, selected applicants will be tested in Excel.

The City of Cornwall offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The starting annual salary for this position is $68,910.
