2. What methods are used by Purchasing Services to obtain bids?  

There are various types of methods used.   Bid calls for goods, services, equipment and construction are either publicly advertised or by invitation.  Bids are classified as formal or informal depending on the estimated value or complexity of the required item(s).  Purchasing Services has four (4) basic categories of bid calls:

  • Telephone/electronic submission
  • Formal/Informal Quotations
  • Public Tenders
  • Request for Proposal (RFP)

Any addendum(s) will be posted on our website under Tenders, Quotes, RFP's unless otherwise advised.  It is the bidder's responsibility to check the website.

3. Where do I hand in my bid envelopes?

Bids on City issued tenders must be delivered to the City Clerk, 360 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario  K6H 5T9 before 11:00:00 am of the specified date in the envelope provided with the bid documentation.  All tender bid envelopes are to be date and time stamped upon receipt by the City Clerk.

Quotations and RFP's are to be submitted before the closing time to Purchasing Services, 100 Water Street East, Suite 104, Cornwall, Ontario K6H 6G4.
