CornwallA portion of Ontario Street will be closed to traffic this summer as part of a larger redevelopment plan for the Municipal Works Yard.
Ontario Street is slated to be permanently closed between Twelfth Street East and Lemay Street (as shown at right, click for larger image) in early June. A By-law to authorize the closure will be presented at the City Council meeting of Tuesday, May 23rd.

Traffic noticeThe City of Cornwall has been advised that work will begin on Monday May 1st on the final phase of construction on Brookdale Avenue - south of the traffic circle.
The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited has retained Louis Bray Construction to carry out this work, which involves placing the final lift of asphalt, paving the recreational path (on the west side of Brookdale Avenue) and landscaping.

The City of Cornwall has retained a structural engineering firm to undertake an assessment of the culvert at the intersection of Cumberland Street and Emma Avenue following the flooding and washout earlier this month.
The engineering firm has examined the situation on site and confirmed that the culvert needs to be replaced.

The City of Cornwall would like to advise that reduced load limits have been lifted as of Monday, April 24th due to favourable weather conditions.
The reduced load limits are necessary in order to preserve the integrity of certain roads during the spring thaw period. Similar restrictions are in place on select roads in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.
