Brookdale AveOfficials gathered on Monday, June 26th to mark the reopening of Brookdale Avenue south of the traffic circle following an extensive multi-year reconstruction project.
The work involved the replacement of underground services and the reconstruction of Brookdale Avenue from Water Street and the international bridge crossing to the traffic circle at Seventh Street. Stuff the BusCornwall’s generous community spirit was on display once again during the second annual Stuff the Bus fundraiser by Cornwall Transit and radio station Boom 101.9 and Fresh Radio 104.5.
Hundreds of residents and business owners stopped by City Hall on Friday, June 9 th with a food and monetary donation. The Optimist Club also hosted a barbecue over the lunch hour with proceeds going towards the cause.

Temporary traffic signals are currently in operation at the intersection of Water and Cumberland Streets to assist with traffic at the detour route during the final phase of reconstruction on Brookdale Avenue. These temporary signals are not property of the City of Cornwall and they will be removed once the work on Brookdale Avenue is completed. The installation of permanent traffic signals at the intersection would cost approximately $150,000.
